Kiwanis International is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time. Today, we stand with more than 550,000 members from K-Kids to Key Club to Kiwanis and many ages in between in 80 countries and geographic areas. Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children, such as fighting hunger, improving literacy and offering guidance.
The Polk City Kiwanis Club looks out for our local community and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty. We are generous with our time. We are creative with our ideas. We are passionate about making a difference. And we have fun along the way.
Every year, Polk City Kiwanis Club gives back to our community by funding children's camps, playground equipment, books, senior scholarships and Fire/Police departments.
Key Club is a student-led, high school organization. Our members make the world a better place through service. In doing so, we grow as individuals and as leaders by answering the call to lead, summoning the courage to engage and developing the heart to serve.
On March 29, 1946, the Kiwanis Club of Polk City was created with 45 charter members. The East Des Moines Kiwanis Club, under the leadership of Lt. Governor Duke Williams, sponsored our new club.
